Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data the app uses, where it is stored and how you can delete it. In short: your study progress stays on your device and the app sends your data to no server of ours, because we have none. Outside the app it only handles the purchase of PRO, which the Google Play app on your device does, and a few usage events received by Google Analytics for Firebase (see "Analytics").
Summary
- All content works offline.
- The app connects to no server of ours: we have none. Buying PRO, checking whether you already own it and restoring it are done by the Google Play app installed on your device.
- No sign-up, advertising or crash reporting. There is only minimal analytics from Google (Firebase Analytics), described in "Analytics".
- Your study progress is stored only on your device.
Who is responsible
Quantum Quacks develops this app and is responsible for this policy. For any privacy question, write to luis@quantumquacks.com.
Data stored only on your device
The app stores the following information only in your device's internal storage:
- Study progress: your answers, the spaced-repetition schedule, the session history (with the answer details of the last 20 sessions), your streak and daily activity, mistakes, saved questions and theory progress.
- Settings: theme, sound, vibration, daily goal, reminders and their time, your exam date and, if you mark it in the app, whether you have already passed it.
- Use without PRO: the topics you have already unlocked, the questions and mock exams you have used, the days you opened the app and, if there is one, when your welcome offer started. This lets the app know what is available to you without going online.
- PRO status: a copy of whether you own PRO and a time reference, so that PRO and the daily unlocks work offline. None of this is included in the Android backup.
- App state: whether you have already seen the introduction, how many times you have opened the app and when it last showed you the PRO screen or asked you for a rating, so that it does not show them too often.
This information does not leave your device (except for the Android backup explained below) and we have no access to it. What happens when you buy is explained in "Purchases (PRO)".
Android backup
If Android backup is turned on, the system may copy this data (except the PRO status) to your Google account and restore it when you reinstall the app or set up a new phone. That copy is managed by Google, not by us, and you can turn it off in the system backup settings (Settings > Google > Backup, depending on the manufacturer). And if you move your phone's content to another one with Android's device-transfer tool, this data is copied too.
Purchases (PRO)
PRO is optional. It is bought inside the app through Google Play Billing, the purchase system of the Google Play app you already have on your device. We use no other payment or purchase service.
- Google Play: Google processes the payment with your Google Play account and keeps the purchase record. We never see your card or account details.
- What the app does: when you open it, open the PRO screen, buy or restore, the app asks the Google Play app on your device whether your account owns PRO and what it costs. That request stays between the two apps on your device: ours sends nothing of its own. What the Google Play app and Google's libraries send to Google is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
- What we receive: Google shows us the orders in its developer console (order number, product, country, date and amount) to handle refunds and see sales statistics. We do not receive your card or payment account details.
- What never leaves the app: your answers, your study progress, the advertising ID or your payment details. The only installation identifier is the one Firebase Analytics creates, described in "Analytics".
How to delete your data
- "Restablecer progreso" (Reset progress): this option in Settings deletes all of your study progress from the device. Your settings, PRO, the topics you have already unlocked and your use without PRO are kept.
- Uninstalling the app: deletes its data from the device. If Android backup is on, that copy may be kept in your Google account and restored if you install the app again.
- Purchase data: the record of your purchase is kept by Google Play under its policy, and it is what lets you restore PRO. We keep no data about you in systems of our own, so there is nothing else to delete on our side. If you have any question about a purchase, write to luis@quantumquacks.com.
Analytics
To see where people give up on the app and fix it, we use Firebase Analytics, a Google service. The app sends it only these events: when you finish the introduction, when the PRO screen opens (and from where), and when a PRO purchase starts, completes or fails (with the plan and the amount Google Play charges). The service itself also records basic usage data: the first open, the start of each session, the app and Android versions, the device model, the language, the approximate country and, when Google Play provides it, where the install came from (for example, an ad campaign).
- What is not sent: your answers, your study progress, your settings, your name, your e-mail, your precise location or the advertising ID. The app does not ask for any of those.
- Identifier: Firebase creates a random identifier for the installation. It is not linked to your Google account or your identity, and a new one is created if you reinstall the app.
- Advertising: off. Collection of the advertising ID and ad-personalization signals are turned off.
- Who receives it: Google, which processes this data on our behalf under the Google Privacy Policy and the Firebase terms. We only see aggregated figures.
Permissions
The app uses these Android permissions:
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): optional. Used only for the reminders you turn on, which are generated on the device itself.
- Vibration (VIBRATE): for in-app haptic feedback (for example when you answer), if enabled.
- Internet (INTERNET): used by Firebase Analytics, to send the events described in "Analytics", and by the Google Play billing system, which includes a diagnostics component of Google's own. The app sends nothing to any server of ours. Questions, images and theory are bundled in the app and work offline.
- Network state (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): added by WorkManager, the Android library that schedules the reminders, and by the billing system, to know whether there is a connection. It gives no access to your data.
- Google Play billing (
com.android.vending.BILLING): added by the Google Play Billing library so that you can buy PRO with your Google Play account. - Google Play install referrer (
com.google.android.finsky.permission.BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE): added by Firebase Analytics to learn which campaign or Google Play link an install came from. It gives no access to your data. - WAKE_LOCK, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED and FOREGROUND_SERVICE: added automatically by WorkManager, the Android library that schedules those reminders (for example, to keep them after the phone restarts).
The app does not ask for access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone or files, and it does not use the advertising ID.
Third-party services
- Google Play Billing: processes PRO payments and keeps your purchase record under the Google Privacy Policy, as explained in "Purchases (PRO)".
- Firebase Analytics (Google): minimal usage analytics, as explained in "Analytics".
- Ratings: if you rate the app from inside it, Google Play handles the process under the Google Privacy Policy.
- Sharing: sharing a result, your streak or the app opens the system share sheet; you choose which app to use and what to share.
- Support: the contact buttons open your e-mail app. The message may include the app version, the Android version and the device model to help with your request, and it is only sent if you send it.
- Links: external links, such as dgt.es, this policy or the terms of use, open in your browser.
Children
The app is intended for people preparing the theory test for the A1 or A2 motorcycle license and is not directed at children under 13. It shows no ads, does not use the advertising ID and does not ask for personal data such as your name or e-mail.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will publish the new version with its date at https://quantumquacks.es/apps/dgt-a2-moto/privacy and update it in the app.
