Frequently Asked Questions

How does deleting photos work? Is it permanent?

No, it is not permanent. When you swipe left, the photo is not removed immediately: it goes into the delete queue. Nothing leaves your library until you review that queue and confirm. When you apply it, SweepSheep uses the standard iOS Photos deletion, so your photos move to the Recently Deleted album, where iOS keeps them for 30 days and you can restore them at any time. iOS also shows you its own confirmation dialog before the deletion happens. You can undo your last action at any point while sweeping.

Why does SweepSheep need full access to my photo library?

SweepSheep is a photo-library cleaner, so it needs to see the photos in order to show them to you and to act on the ones you choose. Full access lets the app read your library, present photos one by one, move the ones you keep into albums, mark favorites, and send the ones you discard to Recently Deleted. Your photos never leave your device — everything happens locally on your iPhone through Apple's PhotoKit framework.

What breaks if I choose "Limited Access" instead?

With Limited Access, iOS only hands the app the specific photos you hand-pick in the system picker. SweepSheep can then only see that small selection, so review modes such as Oldest First, Newest First, Random, Pending and Screenshots have almost nothing to work with, progress and streak counters stop being meaningful, and the app cannot move photos into albums or delete anything outside that selection. You can change this at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos › SweepSheep and choose Full Access.

Do my photos ever leave my device?

Never. SweepSheep has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no ads. Your photos are never uploaded, shared or transmitted anywhere. All processing — including the on-device analysis used to detect duplicate and similar images with Apple's Vision framework — happens locally on your iPhone, and the results are stored only in the app's local storage. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Is there a subscription?

No. SweepSheep is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription, no recurring charge and no in-app purchases: you pay once on the App Store and every feature in the app is yours. If you reinstall the app or install it on another device with the same Apple ID, restore it from the App Store at no extra cost.
