Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Android version of Handarin, distributed through Google Play. The iOS version is covered by a separate policy, because it contains no analytics at all.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Handarin Android app, published by Quantum Quacks (referred to as "we", "us" or "our") and distributed through the Google Play Store.

Handarin does not collect, store, or share any personal data. The app works almost entirely offline. Your in-app data — such as favorites and settings — is stored only on your device and is never sent to us. We do not require an account and we do not show ads. The app does record anonymous, aggregated usage statistics through Google Analytics for Firebase (see section 4); those statistics cannot identify you and use no advertising identifier.

3. Data stored on your device

The following data is kept locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:

  • Your favorite phrases and characters.
  • App preferences (interface language, audio settings, preferred currency).
  • Your Handarin Pro purchase status.

This data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.

4. Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

The Android version of Handarin includes Google Analytics for Firebase, which records anonymous, aggregated usage statistics: app opens, onboarding steps, audio playback, converter use, views of the Pro screen, and completed purchases. We use it to understand which parts of the app are useful and to catch faults such as a purchase that never works.

This data does not identify you: it contains no name, email, precise location, or advertising identifier. Firebase assigns a random installation id, which you can reset by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it. We also record, once per install, the campaign you arrived from as reported by Google Play (the utm_* parameters of the link), with no personal click identifier.

5. Network use (currency converter)

The only feature that fetches content from the internet is the optional currency converter, which fetches up-to-date exchange rates from a public rates provider. These requests contain no personal data and are not tied to your identity. If you have no connection, the converter falls back to the most recent rates stored on your device.

6. Purchases (Handarin Pro)

Handarin Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Google Play Billing. We never receive or store your payment details. Google processes the transaction and shares only the information needed to confirm the purchase and to let you restore it on your devices. Google's handling of payment data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

7. Permissions

Handarin requests only the permissions it needs to function:

  • Internet access: used to retrieve live currency exchange rates, to complete in-app purchases through Google Play, and to send the anonymous usage statistics described in section 4.

Handarin does not access your contacts, camera, microphone, location, photos, or files. The advertising-ID permission (AD_ID) is explicitly removed from the app.

We rely on the following services to distribute the app, process purchases, and measure anonymous usage:

We do not integrate advertising networks or social media trackers, and we use no advertising identifiers.

9. Children

Handarin is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children. The anonymous statistics described in section 4 cannot identify any individual.

10. Your rights

Because we do not collect or store personal data that identifies you, there is no personal information for us to access, correct, or delete. You can remove all locally stored data at any time by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it, which also resets the random Firebase installation id used for the anonymous statistics. 11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect legal, technical, or service changes. The current version will always be published at this URL, with an updated "Last updated" date.
