Does Dalmaji work offline?
Yes. Every phrase, audio file, Hangul lesson, menu dish, tip and stamp is bundled inside the app, so it all works in airplane mode and on a plane over the Pacific. The one exception is the won converter, which refreshes exchange rates when you have a connection — and when you don't, it uses the last rates it downloaded, or the table shipped with the app.
Which devices does Dalmaji run on?
Dalmaji runs on iPhone with iOS 17.0 or later and on Android phones with Android 7.0 or later. There is no iPad, Apple Watch or tablet-specific app — on an iPad or an Android tablet it runs as a phone app.
Which languages does Dalmaji support?
Twelve languages — English, Spanish, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Malay, Russian, French and German — covering the interface and all of the content: phrases, lessons and travel tips. The app follows your phone's language. On iPhone, to use a different one just for Dalmaji, open the iPhone Settings › Dalmaji › Language.
The audio does not play — what can I check?
Dalmaji plays through the normal media channel on both iPhone and Android — on iPhone even when the phone is set to silent — so check the media volume first (not just the ringer): a very low media volume can make it seem muted, and make sure no Bluetooth device is taking the audio. Also check that Focus or Do Not Disturb is not silencing media. If one specific phrase stays silent while the rest play, write to us with the phrase and we will fix it.
What does Dalmaji Pro include? Is it a subscription?
It is not a subscription — Dalmaji Pro is a one-time, non-consumable purchase, and it never renews. It unlocks the rest of the content: all 340 phrases across the 13 categories, all 60 Menu Decoder dishes, all 72 travel tips across the 12 guide sections. The base price is $9.99, with a welcome offer of $4.99 during the first 48 hours after you first open the Pro screen; your local price is set by the App Store or Google Play.
What stays free forever: the essentials and every emergency phrase in full, a sample of every other phrase category, the whole of Hangul in 30 minutes (the 40-letter alphabet, the syllable table, the 6-lesson crash course and the “Read the street” exam), the 90 Konglish loanwords, a first set of dishes in every Menu Decoder scene, the first sections of the travel guide with all the emergency information, the stamp collection and the won converter — plus daily stamps that give you pieces of Pro content to keep, free, up to a ceiling.
I bought Pro but the content is locked
Open Settings › Restore purchases inside the app. Your purchase is tied to the account you bought it with — your Apple Account on iPhone, your Google account on Android — so after reinstalling or moving to a new phone a restore brings Pro back at no extra cost. Make sure you are signed in with the same account you bought with, and write to us if it still does not come back.
Because each store handles its own purchases, Pro unlocks on the platform you bought it on: an App Store purchase does not carry over to an Android phone, or the other way round.
Why is the app all in the polite form?
On purpose. Every phrase is written in polite -요 / -니다 forms, never casual speech — the forms you actually want with a shopkeeper, a taxi driver or hotel staff. Using casual speech with a stranger in Korea reads as rude, so the app simply does not offer it. Phrases where the line is subtle carry a short note on etiquette.
Are the exchange rates accurate?
The converter downloads a public exchange-rate file whenever you have a connection and keeps it for offline use, so the rates are the mid-market ones, not what a bank or a currency booth will actually give you. Treat them as a guide to what something costs, not as the price of the transaction.
Are the travel tips up to date?
The 72 tips cover the things that genuinely surprise first-time visitors — eSIMs and the apps that work there, transport cards, payments, etiquette, nightlife, day trips and emergencies — and we review them with every release. If something has changed on the ground, tell us and we will update it.
I found a bug or have a feature request
Write to us at contacto@quantumquacks.es and tell us what happened, your phone model, your iOS or Android version and the app version (at the bottom of the Settings screen). We read every message.
Privacy
Dalmaji has no accounts and no ads, and never asks for personal data. Your progress, favourites, stamps and settings stay on your phone — on iPhone with a copy of your progress in your own iCloud account if you use iCloud, and on Android they can go into your own Google backup, which we never see. The iPhone app has no analytics; from version 1.1.0 the Android app sends usage statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase, without the advertising ID.
